Fourth CIIE concludes with new prospects

About 150,000 square meters of exhibition space has already been booked for next year's China International Import Expo, an indication of industry leaders' confidence in the Chinese market, organizers said in Shanghai on Nov 10 as this year's event closed. The exhibition area this year was a record 366,000 sq m, up 6,000 sq m from 2020.

A total of 281 Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders attended this year's exhibition, with 40 joining the CIIE for the first time and another 120 taking part in the exhibition for the fourth consecutive year. "The CIIE has further facilitated China's industrial transformation and upgrading," said Jiang Ying, vice-chairwoman of Deloitte in China, a market consultancy. The CIIE has become a key platform where foreign companies can gain a deeper understanding of the Chinese market and seek investment opportunities, she said.

China's trade council unveils commercial mediation rules for foreign-related IPR disputes

China's trade council on Oct 29 released commercial mediation rules for the settlement of foreign-related intellectual property rights (IPR) disputes, the first of their kind in the country. The rules will take effect on Nov 1. Issued by a mediation center under the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the rules detail regulations on applications, personnel, modes and fees related to the mediation of IPR disputes.The rules will play active roles in improving China's IPR dispute resolution mechanism, advancing commercial mediation development, and helping China deeply engage in global IPR governance, said Cai Chenfeng, vice-president of the mediation center. NE China ports handle over 3,000 China-Europe freight trains

The northeastern Chinese ports of Manzhouli and Suifenhe on the China-Russia border have seen over 3,000 China-Europe freight train trips this year, according to the China Railway Harbin Group Co Ltd.

As of Aug 25, the two ports had handled 3,037 China-Europe freight train trips with 291,186 TEUs of goods, up 35.5 percent and 44.6 percent year-on-year, respectively.

In the same period, Suifenhe port handled 323 China-Europe freight train trips with 29,176 TEUs of cargo, surging by 207.6 percent and 218.7 percent, respectively.

Over 50 China-Europe freight train routes pass through the two ports, linking more than 10 countries with 60 Chinese cities, including Guangzhou, Changsha and Tianjin. Source：Xinhua

Cross-border use of RMB hits record high

BEIJING — The share of the Chinese currency the renminbi (RMB) in cross-border payments hit a record high in 2020 and continued to gain steam, according to a report on the internationalization of the RMB published by the China Banking Association. The cross-border use of the RMB surged 44.3 percent year-on-year to 28.38 trillion yuan (about $4.37 trillion) last year, of which cross-border receipts reached 14.1 trillion yuan and payments came in at 14.28 trillion yuan, according to the report. Cross-border RMB settlements accounted for 47.4 percent of all cross-border domestic and foreign currency settlements, a new record that was 9.28 percentage points higher than the figure seen in 2019, data from the report shows. Xinhua

Industrial firms' profits indicate robust recovery

China's major industrial enterprises' steady profit increases in the first five months of the year show the country's economy is on the right road to recovery, officials and experts said. However, targeted policy support will be needed to help downstream industries and smaller businesses cope with rising costs and ensure sound economic fundamentals.

Figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics on June 27 showed that profits for China's major industrial enterprises rose 83.4 percent year-on-year in the first five months to over 3.42 trillion yuan ($530 billion). China-Europe freight train

LANZHOU — A new freight train route has been launched, linking Hamburg in Germany and the city of Wuwei in Northwest China's Gansu province, local authorities said on June 15.

A train carrying 771 tons of containers, mainly auto parts, office supplies, household appliance, with a total value of approximately 36.3 million yuan ($5.67 million) departed from Wuwei on June 13, inaugurating the service and is expected to arrive in Hamburg in early July. It is the land port's first China-Europe freight train to Hamburg, also its second China-Europe freight train to Germany this year. Exports to China benefit nearly all US states, industries: USCBC

The United States' exports to China have benefited nearly all US states and industries, the US-China Business Council said Tuesday during a conference held in Shanghai. Data released by the council showed that US exports to China grew by about 18 percent year-on-year to over $123 billion in 2020, while its exports to the rest of the world fell by 15 percent during the same period. Since the two nations started trading relations, over 70,000 American enterprises have invested in China or operated a business there, with a total annual sales volume exceeding $700 billion. Foreign investment in Chinese bonds rising

China's foreign trade amounted to 8.47 trillion yuan ($1.29 trillion) in the first quarter of this year, up 29.2 percent year-on-year, according to the General Administration of Customs.

China's factory-gate prices see narrowed decline in November

BEIJING — China's producer prices saw narrowed decline in November amid a steady recovery in industrial activities, official data showed on Dec 9. The producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, fell 1.5 percent year-on-year in November, narrowed from the 2.1-percent drop in October, said the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In the first 11 months, the PPI went down 2 percent on average from the same period last year, NBS data showed.The PPI data came along with the release of the consumer price index, a main gauge of inflation, which dipped 0.5 percent year-on-year in November.

Fiscal revenue rises by 4.7% in Q3

China's fiscal revenue rose by 4.7 percent during the third quarter of the year on the back of sustained economic recovery and robust industrial output, while government spending is expected to shore up growth in the subsequent months, according to the Ministry of Finance. Industries in China showing signs of recovery, report says

Certain industries in China showed signs of recovery despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the first half of this year, said a report released by human resources consulting firm Aon Hewitt, news portal thepaper.cn reported. The 2020 Mid-Year Salary Increase Report for Chinese Market showed lower wage growth across most sectors in China in the first six months of 2020. Covering 576 companies in various cities and industries in China, the report said that the overall salary increase rate for Chinese enterprises was 5.2 percent by mid-year, while the rate in second-tier cities was 5.3 percent, higher than the 5.1 percent rate in the first-tier cities. Most companies in China registered a sign of recovery, with the projected salary increase rate for 2021 at 5.3 percent, the report said. China's land port sees cross-border railway freight exceeding 10m tons in H1

HOHHOT — Foreign trade volume by railway through Manzhouli, the largest land port on the China-Russia border, exceeded 10 million metric tons in the first half of this year, up 6.4 percent year-on-year, according to official figures. PBOC says monetary policy to stay normal 'as long as possible'

China's central bank reiterated its intent to maintain a "conventional monetary policy as long as possible", while keeping certain policy adjustment space to encourage moderate savings and prevent asset bubbles.The tone was evident in an article authored by a research team of the central bank's general administration department and published in the latest issue of China Finance, a magazine run by the People's Bank of China, the central bank.The ultimate objective of China's monetary policy is "to maintain the stability of currency value and promote economic growth", it said.

Suzhou’s paid-in foreign investment in Q1 up 163.3%

The paid-in foreign investment in the first quarter rocketed 163.3 percent to reach a historical high of $4.23 billion in Suzhou City of Jiangsu Province, according to a meeting of the city on April 26.The city also reported a growth of 13.3 percent in industrial investment, including investment in emerging industries up 23.1 percent. 5G signal to cover summit of Qomolangma

China clears 75% of overdue payments to smaller private enterprises

China is stepping up measures to support private companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, including ensuring government departments and State-owned enterprises clear their overdue payments to them. As of the end of last December, 75% of the more than 890 billion yuan ($129.76 billion) in such arrears identified nationwide had been paid up." By the end of this year, all undisputed arrears should be cleared as much as possible, and no new arrears should be incurred." said Xin Guobin, vice-minister of industry and information technology, during recent State Council Information Office press conference held in Beijing.

China to further slash taxes, fees for manufacturing sector

Manufacturing enterprises in China will benefit from the government's continued efforts to cut value-added tax and fees this year, and the total scale of the reductions in cost for the sector was expected to reach 1.65 trillion yuan ($240 billion) for 2019, officials said. Chen Bin, executive vice-president of the China Machinery Industry Federation, said the policy will help related companies to achieve high-quality development, transformation and upgrade the manufacturing capabilities.

China's CPI up 2.9% in 2019

BEIJING — China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose 2.9 percent year-on-year in 2019, within government target of 3 percent, official data showed on Jan 9.

The growth picked up from 2.8 percent in the first 11 months, and was above the 2.1-percent annual increase in 2018, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

In December, the CPI climbed 4.5 percent year-on-year, unchanged from that in November.

The hike was mainly driven by food prices, which soared 17.4 percent year-on-year last month, contributing 3.43 percentage points to the increase in December.

The data released on Jan 9 also showed that China's producer price index, which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, dropped 0.3 percent year-on-year in 2019.

IKD Co., Ltd. builds a fully automated "5G+" digital die casting factory

Zhejiang News reported on September 5 that the 5th factory of IKD Co., Ltd. was completed.The factory consists of three parts: die-casting workshop, machining workshop and automatic three-dimensional warehouse. At present, the factory has realized full coverage of 5G signals, which is the first digital factory in Ningbo applying 5G signals.The workshop has achieved full automation of die casting, machining and warehousing in 5G networking mode.

This time, Ningbo Mobile and IKD cooperated to carry out the end-to-end 5G application transformation of the factory network and automatic production line, and installed nearly 200 network devices to achieve campus-level 5G network coverage. At the same time, through the networking of more than 2,300 sets of equipment (including die casting machine, machining center, peripheral equipment, robots, melting equipment, etc.), access is gained to more than 4,000 input/output data points to monitor the production. The productivity increased by 10% to 20% .

In recent years, IKD has been advancing the transformation of digital factories. However, this transformation process has long been constrained by factors such as costs and technical reliability. The application of 5G technology has broken this bottleneck.

China's magnesium alloy exports increase 24.9% in June 2019 compared with the previous month

According to the latest data released by China Customs, China's magnesium alloy exports in June 2019 were 7,976 tons, an increase of 24.9% from the previous month and a decrease of 11.3% from the same period last year. The top three export destinations for magnesium alloys in China in June were the Netherlands, Canada, and the United States. Among them, the export to the Netherlands magnesium alloy was 1,656 tons, an increase of 87.8% from the previous month; the export to Canada magnesium alloy was 1,310 tons, an increase of 118% from the previous month; the export to the US magnesium alloy was 994 tons, an increase of 93.8%.

China to further improve environment for foreign investment

The draft Regulation on Implementing the Foreign Investment Law of the People's Republic of China was approved at the State Council's executive meeting chaired by Premier Li Keqiang on Dec 12. The newly approved regulation specifies measures to facilitate and protect foreign investment, to better address foreign investors' concerns and promote opening-up at a higher level.

The document outlines targets, requirements and measures to boost the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and build a regional cluster of high-quality development. As one of China's most economically active, open and innovative regions, the Yangtze River Delta boasts strategic significance in the country's modernization and further opening-up, which makes its regional integration crucial for leading the country's high-quality development and building a modern economic system.The outline, mapping development for a 358,000-square km expanse that encompasses Jiangsu province, Zhejiang province, Anhui province and Shanghai municipality, consists of 12 chapters.

Tasks specified in the outline include establishing a coordinated innovative industry system, enhancing connectivity of infrastructure, strengthening environmental protection, advancing public services and building the Shanghai free trade zone under high standards.

Domestic-made 5G driverless microbus stareds trial operation in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 26.

Driver intervention is not needed and the vehicle can respond quickly and operate safely in the face of complex road conditions.Such kind of bus is equipped with many smart sensors, cameras, lidars and radars, which help the vehicle identify obstacles, such as pedestrians and motor vehicles, from 200 meters.The smart microbus can also listen in all directions through the road cloud collaborative intelligent system according to China Daily

Suzhou Taihu Marathon

The 2019 Suzhou Taihu Marathon is set to take place on Nov.17 in Suzhou.

The Taihu marathon includes a full marathon, a half marathon and a mini marathon covering the distances of 42.195 kilometers, 21.0975 km and 5 km respectively.

China extends 144-hr visa-free transit to more border ports

The policy that 144-hour transit visa exemption to Foreign Nationals extends to 27 border ports will take effect from Dec.1,2019, according to China National Immigration Administration(NIA).

The conference was held in Changzhou, Jiangsu on Aug.30th. 

About 90 manufacturers and buyers including PINTUU,totally 200 people participated the conference.

A European partner visits us in Suzhou

June 10 was a hot day yet blended with foggy air, and we were just on our way to plum rains season, which is a productive season you know. We just welcomed our partner Mr. Simmonds from Europe to our facility in Suzhou industrial park.

We explored a lot of potentials that we would work on together from now on, helping him to allocate quality Chinese suppliers for his needs in metal parts and more, quality check services for orders, or on the other hand, helping us managing our European customers are also not impossible.
